Terms of Engagement

MH Legal & Seguros is a Spanish law firm, with offices in Dénia, Gandía and Villalonga. It practises law subject to Spanish professional regulations and the bylaws of the relevant Bar Association, in the areas of Civil, Criminal, International, Administrative Law, sworn translation and insurance.

The firm is obliged to request information about the identity of its clients. This data is recorded in our client database and processed in accordance with current Spanish legislation on the protection of personal data.

Our fees are calculated according to the following criteria:

• Amount of the matter or importance to the client.
• Complexity of the case.
• Degree of specialisation required.
• Time devoted to the matter.
• Urgency or express work.
• Language required by the client.
• Outcome of the matter.
• Responsibility assumed.

Our fees are always calculated without including expenses. Before starting a matter it is difficult to specify the exact costs and fees; the estimate we provide is only indicative. If there is a deviation, we will inform the client as soon as possible.

We normally invoice at the conclusion of the matter, unless otherwise agreed in writing. For prolonged matters, we invoice periodically during processing. Payment terms are 8 days from the invoice date, and we include VAT in accordance with current Spanish legislation. In the event of non-payment, interest will accrue under Spanish law.

We may request retainers to cover the expenses of the matter, as well as advances to partially or fully cover our fees.

The first consultation is free of charge and without obligation. It allows us to assess your matter and guide you on the next steps before formalising any instruction.

The services of MH Legal & Seguros are in all cases governed by Spanish legislation and the exclusive jurisdiction of the Spanish courts.
